Our Team

Flores Optometry Inc was established in 2007. Dr. Flores graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1998. She has worked as an optician since 1998 and was fortunate enough to have her mentor Dr. Jorge Cuadros OD take her under his wing since she was in high school.

Dr. Flores enjoys being an active community member. She has served as president for the San Leandro Downtown Association and has helped put on the infamous Sausage and Suds Beer Festival in San Leandro for many years. Dr. Flores is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoys supporting San Leandro Education Foundation, Building Futures Women and Children, San Leandro High, Assumption School, All Saint School and St. Leander's School. She is also a mentor for Optometry Students from UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She enjoys traveling in her free time and spending time with her family

Dr. Tekie received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry. Dr. Tekie is certified in the treatment and management of various ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus and uveitis as well as co-management of cataract and refractive surgery. She also has extensive experience fitting specialty contact lenses such as RGP/Scleral Lens/ Orthokeratology. Dr. Tekie works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. Dr. Tekie is an active member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association.  Dr. Tekie’s passions include education and service to the community. Outside of her career Dr. Tekie enjoys spending time with family, community outreach, going to sporting events, hiking,  and traveling.

Dr. Helen Lam was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry. She completed a clinical rotation at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, East New York, a community health center. She then relocated to Northern Virginia to gain experience at a busy cataract surgery co-management practice, before finally relocating to the SF Bay Area to round out her training at a group practice specializing in pediatrics, myopia control, and vision therapy. She is a member of the Alameda Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and exploring her new bay area backyard by going on all kinds of different camping trips.

Vanessa has over 16 years of experience as the optical manager at Flores Optometry. She has the utmost expertise in finding the perfect frame or troubleshooting any issues with your glasses. Vanessa also curates our eyewear selection and oversees the frame inventory. She enjoys helping people come out of their shell to try something different and seeing the smile on their face when they find the perfect frame. Outside of work she likes nature and long walks with a view. 
 

Sandra has been a valued member of Flores Optometry for more than nine years. As the office manager, she plays a key role in every aspect of the practice, ensuring the office runs smoothly and efficiently each day. Sandra takes pride in the wide range of services we provide to our patients and is committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience. Sandra is a San Leandro native and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Biology and a concentration in Systems Physiology. Outside of work, she enjoys reading fantasy novels as a way to wind down.

Monica has worked with Flores Optometry for over 12 years as an optician. She values forming strong bonds with her patients while pre-testing them and helping them select the perfect frame. Outside of work, Monica enjoys going on long walks and trying new, fun things with her kids.
 

Marisela is a recent graduate of Cal State East Bay with a degree in Biology and aspirations of becoming a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. She brings six years of experience as an optician and values the welcoming, family-orientated atmosphere at Flores Optometry. Of all her responsibilities, she especially enjoys pre-testing patients and helping them feel comfortable before their exam. In her free time, Marisela enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants, and traveling.
 

Llesenia has more than four years of experience as an optician and enjoys preparing delicious lattes for the patients, as well as helping patients select frames that make them look and feel their best. Before joining Flores Optometry, Llesenia did clinical rotations throughout the Bay Area as a veterinary technician and worked for a dog daycare for 2 years. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and playing video games on her Nintendo Switch 2. A few fun facts about Llesenia are that she enjoys debates, used to sing at parties and school assemblies, and was a proud Girl Scout.
 

Jessica has over 4 years of experience as an optician. She enjoys organizing around the office and keeping all our files in check. Her favorite thing about working at Flores Optometry is that even though her tasks are routine-like, every day brings something new and exciting to the table. Jessica attended San Jose State University where she got a Business degree in. In her free time she enjoys playing board games, video games, reading, and crafting. 

Sarah has worked at Flores Optometry for over three years. She enjoys building relationships with patients and helping them find frames that fit both their visual needs and personal style. Sarah earned her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Management from Cal State East Bay. She is also the creative force behind our social media, helping share the Flores Optometry experience with our community and build our brand.
 

Austin is one of our experienced opticians and also serves as one of our virtual assistants, helping patients schedule appointments with ease. As a college graduate with many years of experience in the optical field, he is passionate about helping patients find the perfect eyewear. From selecting frames for the perfect fit, Austin is committed to ensuring every patient enjoys clear, comfortable vision and exceptional service from start to finish.
 

Lizzie grew up in the East Bay and has over five years of experience as an optician. She has thorough knowledge of optics to help you see your best and an eye for frame styling to help you look your best. She is also an expert at training patients to insert and remove all types of contact lenses. Her favorite hobbies are shopping and you can find her enjoying endless amounts of iced vanilla lattes.

Noemi is a part-time optician and one of our virtual assistants, helping patients who call to schedule appointments and also researching patient benefits. As a recent college graduate, she brings a fresh perspective and a passion for helping others. When she's not assisting patients, Noemi enjoys travelling and exploring new places. She is dedicated to making every patient experience smooth, welcoming, and enjoyable.
